Ireland in Action: Highlights from Washington, D.C. and New York City

I had a fantastic week of meetings and events in Washington, D.C., and New York City—truly Ireland at its best on display.

Thank you to Michael Carey, Kevin Sherry, Aidan McKenna, Rory Power and everyone at Enterprise Ireland and Enterprise Ireland USA for highlighting such an impressive group of Irish entrepreneurs and helping them expand in the U.S.

I’m also grateful to Feargal O’Rourke, Michael Lohan and the team at IDA Ireland for their ongoing efforts to bring international investment into Ireland.

I’m excited to have joined the Board of Advisors for the U.S.–Ireland Partnership for Growth alongside Ben English, and I look forward to working together to strengthen ties between our countries.

Congratulations to An Taoiseach Micheál Martin for his meeting with President Trump in the White House, and for delivering an inspiring keynote at The Ireland Funds Gala with CEO Caitríona Fottrell.

It was a pleasure to meet Ireland’s Ambassador to the U.S., Geraldine Byrne Nason—her leadership at the Embassy is outstanding—and to catch up with Consul General Helena Nolan in New York. I wish Ambassador-designate Edward “Sharp” Walsh every success as he prepares to take up his new role.

I enjoyed hearing Tánaiste Simon Harris speak at several events, including the Digital Irish showcase with Oisín Hanrahan, celebrating the innovation coming out of Ireland.

Finally, a special mention to Hilary T. Beirne from Boyle, Co. Roscommon, who has led the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City for over 20 years—his dedication continues to bring our culture and heritage to life on a global stage.

It was a privilege to share in all of these moments, and I’m already looking forward to the next opportunity to champion Ireland abroad.
